Housing Vermont, through its Vermont Rural Ventures affiliate, is providing nearly $3.3 million in low cost permanent financing to Laraway Youth and Family Services (LYFS) for its new, 39-acre campus in Johnson. The project allows the nonprofit youth services organization to increase enrollment by 30% and to add 10 to 12 new employees.

Thirty families and individuals will be celebrating the holidays in new homes.
On November 7, Housing Vermont and the Champlain Housing Trust (CHT) celebrated the completion of thirty apartments in a single building located off Susie Wilson Road in the Town of Essex. Cedar’s Edge Apartments offers a mix of 24 two-bedroom and six one-bedroom apartments.

The neighborhood transformation is so complete that even the streets have new names.
On October 27, the Rutland Housing Authority (RHA) and Housing Vermont, RHA’s development partner, unveiled seven new buildings with a total of 33 apartments off Forest Street in Rutland’s southwest neighborhood. The buildings at the new Hickory Street Apartments range in size from duplex structures to a building with 12 apartments.

Sometimes looks are not deceiving. On October 20 Housing Vermont and the Lamoille Housing Partnership (LHP) joined with Speaker of the House Shap Smith, community members and state officials to celebrate the completion of extensive renovations to five apartment buildings in Morrisville and Stowe where improved exteriors reflect substantial interior improvements.

Housing Vermont honored Neil Mickenberg and Will Belongia for their outstanding contributions to the provision of affordable housing in Vermont.
The awards were presented at Housing Vermont’s annual meeting on September 8 in Burlington. “It’s our pleasure to publicly recognize the work of these two talented and committed individuals,” said Housing Vermont President Nancy Owens. “In different ways, Neil and Will have demonstrated the deep and lasting impact that individuals can make.”
